Guide on Time Blocking
What is Time Blocking?
Many people struggle to get things done, they feel that they don't have enough time to finish their daily tasks or to-do list. To overcome this they use time blocking. This is an effective technique which is basically a time management technique to boost productivity and help you finish your priority tasks. Many millionaires and billionaires like Elon Musk use this to get things done efficiently.
Types of time blocking:
Traditional - Dividing your day into specific time blocks, each created for a specific ask that you need to accomplish.
Pomodoro - Using focused intervals which are usually 25-30 minutes followed by a short break.
Time theming - Assigning themes to each block. For example: morning is for creativity and so on.
Energy management - Planning day based on energy levels, this can vary based on whether you are a night owl or an early bird
Batching - Grouping similar tasks together, and setting a time to finish them all at once.
How to use Time Blocking effectively?
You first need to plan your day in advance to complete this effectively. This is a crucial step to help protect your time and focus. This further encourages you to optimize your working hours as well as save time. This helps you focus on one task and one task only, which reduces the time it takes to complete it because focusing on many other things can get you distracted. Most people might not know how much time it takes to complete a certain task. I suggest that you put a stopwatch on and time yourself, and the more you record you learn to estimate your time. It is also important to know that people work based on the time you assign to each task. Let's say that you assign 5 hours to your English HW. This can be normal for some people but too much for others this can lead to procrastination which results in you not completing your tasks entirely.
